Choosing the right lampshade
What size lampshade do I need for my lamp base?

Choosing the right size lampshade comes down to finding a balance between the height and width of your lamp base and the overall look you want to achieve.

As a general guide, a lampshade that is around two-thirds the height of your lamp base is a good starting point, although the ideal size will depend on the shape and proportions of your lamp.

Before choosing your lampshade, measure the height and widest point of your lamp base. Then compare these measurements with the lampshade's height, top diameter and bottom diameter to help you find a size that looks balanced.

It's also important to check the fitting, as the shade needs to be compatible with your lamp.

Our handmade lampshades are available in a range of beautiful fabrics, colours and sizes to complement different lamps and interiors. You'll find the dimensions listed on each product page to help you choose the right shade for your lamp base.

Are your lampshades lined?

Yes our lampshades are lined with a neutral fabric for extra cosiness.
Are all La Belle Saison lampshades handmade?

Yes, all La Belle Saison lampshades are handmade in England by me, using carefully sourced fabrics in small quantities. Each design is created with a love of colour, pattern and considered interiors, resulting in distinctive lampshades that bring character and charm to your home.

Many of my designs feature beautiful cotton fabrics, including handwoven and handpainted prints. As each lampshade is handmade, slight variations may occur, making every piece unique.
What fittings do you use?

Our lampshades use a versatile easy fit utility fitting.

If you're replacing an existing lampshade, checking the fitting on your current shade and the type of lamp holder you have is a good place to start.

If you're unsure whether a La Belle Saison lampshade will fit your lamp, please get in touch with a photo of your lamp and I'll try my best to help.
Will a British/European shade fit an American lamp base?

All of our lampshades are made with a removable converter ring for universal global compatibility, offering a seamless fit across all standard UK, EU, and US lamp bases (E27, E26, B22, and E14)

For UK lamp bases, leave the adapter ring in place. This ensures a secure fit on standard B22 bayonet and E14 screw lamp bases.

For EU and US lamp bases, gently click the internal ring out of the central opening. The shade will now fit larger continental E27 and US E26 screw fittings natively.
Can I order a bespoke or custom lampshade?

Yes, I love working on bespoke lampshade projects. 

I can help you source fabric or possibly use some of your own. 

Every bespoke project is considered individually, so please contact me to discuss ideas, availability, fabric options, colour, sizing, pricing and timescales before placing an order.

How long does it take to receive a La Belle Saison lampshade?

All lampshades are hand made to order from scratch, so please allow approximately 7 working days for your lampshade to be made before delivery.

If you need your lampshade by a particular date, please get in touch before ordering.

As lampshades are made to order, they are non-refundable under the current store policy, so please check your chosen design, dimensions and fitting carefully before purchasing and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Bulbs, light and care
Which light bulb should I use with a fabric lampshade?

Please use LED bulbs as they generally produce less heat and are safer. However, you must still follow the lamp manufacturer's instructions and ensure the bulb is suitable for the fitting and enclosed space.

Always check the maximum permitted wattage and any specific bulb restrictions supplied with your lamp. Keep the bulb at a safe distance from the fabric and never use a bulb that exceeds the manufacturer's limits.
When will I get my order?

We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.
Where are your products manufactured?

Our products are manufactured both locally and globally. We carefully select our manufacturing partners to ensure our products are high quality and a fair value.
